In an ironic incident at UP CM Yogi Aditynath’s home turf Gorakhpur, at least 30 children died in the state-run Baba Raghav Das Medical College in 48 hours. News reports quoted District Magistrate Rajeev Rautela, “around 30 patients had died in the hospital over the last 36 hours, including 14 in the neonatal ward.”
He continued, “Out of an outstanding of ₹70 lakh, ₹35 lakh was paid to the Lucknow-based firm. But the firm said they have not received the payment. They said they had alternate means of oxygen supply. We requested them to not disrupt supply of liquid oxygen,”
As per the report published in The Hindu, the name of the company is Pushpa Sales which apparently wrote to the principal of BRD hospital on August 1that it would be unable to supply oxygen anymore if the due payment of ₹63 lakh is done soon.
Ironically the incident has happened just 2 days after CM Yogi Adityanath himself inspected the hospital during his tour to Gorakhpur.
Uttar Pradesh government has brazenly denied that the deaths happened due to lack of oxygen supply. It is saying that the casualties happened due to various illnesses.
