A lucky few manage to get themselves a generous $40,000 funding from FaceBook under its start-up incubation programme called, “FbStart”. CoutLoot – an end to end fashion re-commerce startup registered itself in that prestigious club. FbStart is Facebook’s initiative to support fledgling start ups by way of providing them with useful tools and services. It also provides a start-up an amazing opportunity to participate in international events and engage with the hugely talented Facebook team.

Having to get a humongous funding and such goodies from the social media giant is no mean feat for any start up. CoutLoot can be found on the web. It has Android and iOs apps as well. Let’s have a walkthrough on what exactly it does. If you have ever used OLX – you might be familiar with a buy and sell business model. CoutLoot follows exactly the same model with respect to high-end and mid-end fashion products. The app is much like any of its online shopping counterparts with the “Sell” option acting as the prominent differentiator. An interesting tab on the app is Bloggers’ Closet which lists recommendations from fashion bloggers. This particular feature taps the latest fad among the fashion conscious youngsters – fervently following the new and upcoming fashion bloggers. Another option called, TopLooters exists wherein you could surf the closets of the most active members and choose to buy their treasured collection.

CoutLoot lets users upload their own pictures for products featured on the site, unlike other fashion e-commerce websites where professional models can be seen in the product catalogues. Product filters, again display an imaginative use of functionality. Instead of sorting products by color or style, you can search product by applying “Product Condition” and “Size” filters. Product condition, in turn has four sub categories – gently used, hardly used, new with tags and new without tags. This function is particularly useful as it lets a patron know exactly what she/he could expect when the product finally arrives. The app also lets you negotiate the price with the seller which is a definite eye catcher for the price-conscious audiences.

The app takes 7-10 days to deliver their product which is longer than the usual delivery period of 3-4 days asked by other shopping portals.

If you are looking to sell a product, you need to upload its image which will then be reviewed by experts. Upon approval, it will be listed on the website and you have an option of bulk selling, direct selling or white glove selling. You can opt for bulk selling if you have more than 10 products to sell and avail of a special concierge service. The product you want to sell should be less than 5 years old and should be freshly laundered.

Overall, CoutLoot is an app rich on features and could emerge as an instant favorite amongst fashion-forwards who are walking on a tightrope budget.
