A Mahatma Gandhi memorial in Ahmedabad has been turned into a warehouse for storing Ghee, rugs, banners by Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurveda.

According to a report published in DNA, the Smruti Khand, was a courtroom from where Gandhi was sentenced to sedition for 6 years in 1922. It is a 95-year-old circuit house whose one room was turned into a courtroom.

This is the oldest circuit house in Ahmedabad and 12 out of 28 rooms in it have been given to Patanjali.

The Smruti Khand also has old documents and archives associated with Gandhiji. The local authorities, as well as Gujarat deputy CM Nitin Patel, said that they don’t know who granted the permission to Patanjali. The circuit house has also not charged any money for the allocation of rooms to Patanjali, which is against the norms. They say the bill be settled after state government finally makes a decision. Usually, the circuit house is meant for state ministers and state government bureaucrats. Relatives of ministers can also stay in circuit house @ 1300 INR per person per day.
