Breaking the norm : Father throws a grand party after his son fails Class 10 exams
Failing in class 10 board exams is a taboo in India. Students go through immense pressure in their class 10 examinations as it is considered as a make or break event for a student’s career. In the past, several students have taken the extreme step of taking their lives after not able to do well in exams.
Defying societal norm of distributing sweets after good board exam results, this contractor organized a grand party after his son failed to pass class 10 board exams. He took this out of the box step in a bid to keep his son motivated and prevent him from taking any extreme step out of disappointment.
As per the report published in TOI, he was quoted: “This is how I want to motivate my son. After failing in exams, children go into depression and some of them even take the extreme step of ending their lives. I want to tell such children that boards are not the last exams. There is much more to come in life,” he said, adding, “My son can reappear in the exam again next year.”
This should be considered as a welcome step to help kids cope with the extraordinary pressure of academics and exams.
