Clash of titans: the final showdown Madrid vs Liverpool
Today is one such night - the night where Real Madrid play Liverpool in quest of defending their title.
It all boils down to how you played on that day. You may be one of the best footballer in the world, but all that matters is how you perform on that day. In the 90 minutes of a football game, you barely get the hold of the ball for 3 or 4 minutes, but what you do with the ball in those minutes is crucial irrespective of whether you are Zidane, Maradona, Pele, or Beckham. Today is one such night – the night where Real Madrid play Liverpool in quest of defending their title.
Liverpool have come out as entirely a different team this season in the UCL. Under the management of Jurgen Klopp, who is known for taking Dortmund till the final once, the reds have showcased an emphatic display of football. Mohammad Salah, the man from Egypt, who was bought by Liverpool at the starting of the season has turned out to be the signing of the century according to many football pundits. He has won several games for the reds on his own. Accompanied by Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firminio, the front three of Liverpool can be devastating if not checked properly. Liverpool have been a bit lack luster when it comes to their midfield and defense for the past many seasons. But with James Milner in sublime form, and added creativity of Wijnaldum, they have pulled off some difficult ones against City and Roma. Their defense is still prone to Madrid’s attack with Dejan Lovren being the most unreliable player in their squad.
Talking of Real Madrid, they play on some other level when it comes to UCL. The team that struggled throughout the La Liga season is on the verge of winning their third UCL title in a row. With Cristiano Ronaldo in the form of his life, coupled with the creativity of Isco, Madrid are capable of ripping apart any defense in the world. They also have a strong reinforced midfield with the likes of Kroos, Modric, and Casemiro, who can all attack as well as defend if need be. Real Madrid’s defense is one of the strongest in business with Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane in sublime form. Sergio Ramos also has the knack of scoring crucial goals in UCL finals. He has done it twice, he may do it again. Real Madrid stand an extremely strong chance of ending it on a winning note if they succeed to exploit Liverpool’s defense early in the game.
As mentioned above, it all boils down to how you play on that day. The two teams have given their everything, and have beaten some of the strongest teams in the world to reach here. Let’s all hope for an enthralling UCL final.
