In a bizarre incident, cops in Jalaun arrested a herd donkeys for allegedly destroying and damaging the jail’s property. Donkeys were arrested on November 24 for eating and damaging valuable plants of the Urai district’s jail compound. As per the news reports, the head constable was quoted as saying:
“These donkeys had destroyed some very expensive plants which our senior officer had arranged for planting inside jail and despite warnings the owner let loose his animals here so we detained the donkeys,”

When the owner of the donkeys went to Urai jail for the release of donkeys, the police refused to release the ‘culprits’. Later, the animals were released on 28 November only after the intervention of a local leader.
