Space X and Tesla CEO Elon Musk is sponsoring a path breaking futuristic innovation – a computer-brain interface venture known as Neuralink. The company is in its nascent stages and plans to incorporate a computer chip in the human brain, so that the chip can help humans in many ways. This will be a great advancement in the pioneering field of artificial intelligence. It also has the potential to enhance human memory and brain functioning efficiency.
Till date the concept of brain-computer interface exists only in science fiction novels and movies. And that’s what makes the enormous scope of this ambitious project breathtaking. In the field of medical science implants are used to ameliorate symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease and other nervous disorders.
Brain-computer interface can be used in many nervous and spinal cord disorders but it is also fraught with many difficulties.
Neuroscientists say they have very limited understanding of how brain cells communicate, and implanting electric signal transmitter or chip in the brain has risks too. This technology is under research.
