Amidst the disheartening news of increasing crimes against women and apathetic onlookers in Delhi, there are a few stories about active citizens and good Samaritans which are like a pleasant breeze.
A group of bikers in Delhi chased a car and saved a woman who was abducted by three men. The youth were eating at a roadside Dhaba when they heard the screams of the woman from a Hyundai Accent car which sped past them near the Beghampur Chowk. They chased the car, got into a fight with the men inside it and saved the woman. Two men were handed to the police while the third one managed to escape. The crowd surrounded the car and set it on fire before the police arrived. The fire brigade had to be called to douse the fire.
The young woman, in her 20s, is a resident of Manglapuri and said that she knows one of the abductors. She works as a domestic help in Rohini. When she was returning home from work, the man offered her lift and when she sat in the car she found that there were 2 other men in the car. The man started misbehaving with her and touching her indecently. She then began shouting for help.
The 2 men have been booked under IPC 354 B and 362. Search for the 3rd accused is still on.
