In an incident which looks straight out of a Bollywood movie, an electric engine of a Chennai-Mumbai train started rolling on its own. The incident happened at Wadi Junction when the railways’ staff was switching the train’s engine from Electric to Diesel as the route from Wadi to Solapur in Maharashtra is not electrified.
The engine started moving on its own soon after the driver deboarded it. The railways’ staff went into a tizzy and took all safety measures including stopping of trains coming from the opposite side and clearing all the signals to avoid any mishappening.
Flabbergasted railways staff chased the engine on a bike for 13 km before stopping it. Railways are inquiring the cause of incident but prima facie it looks like an incident caused due to gross negligence.
