Self-styled God man Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s fate was sealed on Monday by a Rohtak court, sentencing him to 20 years in jail for the rape of two women 15 years ago.
A heavy security framework has been established around Rohtak district jail and security has been upped to prevent any misdemeanor across Haryana, Punjab, and nearby areas. Curfew has been imposed in Punjab’s Moga district.
Forces have been given shoot-at-sight orders. Rohtak Inspector General of Police Navdeep Singh Virk assured measures were taken to not allow any crowd to gather around the jail. “Everyone knows Section 144 (of the CrPC) is in place. If anyone tries to break the law, if they fire at us, or try to enter the site despite the curfew, they will be shot at,” Virk said.
