In an extremely shocking and outrageous incident, a woman in UP who was raped earlier this year, went to lodge a police complaint at Rampur Ganj police station. She said she fears for her life as her rapists are still roaming freely. The policeman on duty asked the woman for sexual favours, if she wanted the rapists to be arrested.
Upon her refusal, the sub inspector, Jai Prakash Singh, closed the case. She then went again to the police station and this time recorded her conversations with him. Times of India has the recording. She then went to the SP who has ordered an enquiry into the case. The woman was offered a lift and then raped by two men on gunpoint.
She told Times of India, “My ordeal began soon afterwards. Whenever I approached SI Jai Prakash Singh seeking arrest of the accused, he would say he first wanted to have sex with me. He even called up on my mobile phone and invited me to visit him in his room alone. When I turned him down, he filed a closure report in the case a fortnight ago.”

However, UP Police, in response to a Tweet to Huffington Post India, has denied the accusations of the woman, saying that she has been arrested for lying and investigation is going on.
